Last minute Pumpkin

Hey Guys,
It's Holly here, I finally got round to buying a pumpkin today, cutting it a bit fine! My pumpkin is far from menacing, so unfortunately it won't be scaring away any trick or treaters.
 So here it is ...

Song Of The Week

Hey Guys,
It's Holly here, this week I have chosen the song 'Take It As It Comes' by Vivian Girls. I discovered it whilst reading my Rookie Yearbook One, which has playlists for every occasion. The music video is really cute, so check it out.

Dressing In October

Spooky?! I think not
Hey Guys,
So Halloween is coming and the shops are full of clothes patterned with pumpkins! I (Holly) personally love Halloween and the style that comes with it. I am not really into all the gimmicky Halloween clothes, knitted jumpers with fluorescent orange pumpkins and hairbands with flashing ghosts on are definitely not something I will be investing in.
Although Daisy thinks this top (left) is the most amazing thing ever, I do not, definite difference in opinion there!

The style I like around Halloween is what the shops like to call 'Gothic Glam'. This was an unexpected trench for AW12, with the shops suddenly encouraging us to 'embrace our dark side', something I had been waiting for them to do for a long time. The catwalks embraced this style, sending many beauties dressed in black down the catwalk. It became acceptable to wear black all over, it was all about black, lace and makeup a vampire would envy!

One character who inspires this trend is Wednesday Addams from the Addams Family, who perfects creepy cute with little collared school girl dresses, and contrasting black hair and white skin. She would be a brilliant character to dress up as for halloween, maybe next year!

In 2012 this trend was so big even Keira Knightly joined in, posing for Harpers Bazaar in Gothic Glam clothes and makeup.

I hope this has inspired you to embrace the trend Gothic Glam, well if it's good enough for Keira Knightley then it must be good enough for us!

MGMT Concert

Hey Guys,
As you already know I (Holly) went to see MGMT at Wolverhampton Civic with some friends a few weeks ago. We had a fabulous night and if you ever get a chance to go an see MGMT do! I didn't know them very well and at first wasn't sure if I wanted to go, but am so glad I did. The music was constant and wonderful, they hardly spoke between songs, allowing us to just enjoy the music, here are some pictures from the night.

Song of the week

Hey Guys,

It's Daisy and as this is being posted I will be on my 4th day in Sorrento, Italy, and when I get back I shall be posting about my time there; in the mean time though here is my song of the week.
So as you know we/I'm kinda obsessed with 'The Mortal Instrument' and last week I stumbled across a song written by Jamie Campbell Bower called 'Waiting' and to be fair I don't exactly like the beginning of the song but the rest I really like.

Song Of The Week

Hey Guys,
It's Holly here with the song of the week. This week I have chosen the song 'Kids' by MGMT, it is a great song which I love! Last night I went to see MGMT at Wolverhampton Civic with some friends, they had a great stage presence and the music was brilliant. Their music is described as 'densely layered, a psychedelic delight'

DIY FAIL: Lumpy Space Princess toy

Hey Guys,

It's Daisy, and our friend had a bit of a hockey accident this week and because I'm such a brilliant friend I thought I'd make her a little toy of her favorite character LSP from Adventure Time. However it didn't go to plan and I thought I'd share my wonderful DIY with you lovely people.

Things you'll need:
Felt (Purple and Yellow)
Wundaweb or Sewing kit
Stuffing
Straighteners or Iron
Scissors
Black marker and pencil
Pins
Towel

1. Turn straighteners on at 160 degrees, which I later found out wasn't hotter enough so actually turn them on at 180 degrees or just turn on the iron.
2. Fold the purple felt in half and draw out LSP either from memory, using a template or like I did, from a picture. Make sure you draw close to the edge so you don't waste as much felt.
3. Make sure to pin down the sides and cut out LSP.
4. Now feel free to sew the edges and turn inside out or do what I did. I placed Wundaweb along the edge of one side of LSP and then placed the other side on top leaving a small gap for the stuffing.
5. Place a towel over the felt otherwise it will melt under the heat and iron/straighten.
6. You can now cut out the star (eyes are optional), which can be lopsided like mine to give a more 'homey effect'. Then put on using the Wundaweb.
7. Now add the stuffing.
8. Finally sew up the gap
      FINISHED!!!

However if you fail at making like me, you will over stuff it and it shall EXPLODE!

Have fun making

Song of the week

Hey Guys,

It's Daisy, as you know I already love the band 'Daughter' from my previous SOTW. The song I've chosen is called Youth; I don't really have much else to say about it so you might as well just listen to it yourself.
