What's in My Bag?

Hey Guys,

I have been watching a lot of vloggers recently and really like their What's in My Bag?' videos, so consequently I thought I would do my own post to share what is in my bag with you guys!

The bag I am using at the moment is a black cotton Paul Smith bag, you can't actually buy these bags as they are promotional only, but I absolutely love it. It's roomy and fits in all the junk that I love to carry round.

Often when I am shopping I shove all my purchases in it only to find when I get home everything is creased, this is definitely something I need to stop doing!

Anyway, inside my bag I have...

- a small blue purse. I received this from a lady who lives in my village as a thank you for giving her granddaughter violin lessons and I have had it for about 6 years, it still looks really new!

- paperchase pencil case. This is full of pens and pencils and lots of little packets of sugar from when I visited the Gucci CafĂ© in Italy, I don't even know why they are still in there! It also contains a Rimmel London eyebrow pencil and my tin of Vaseline, both Daisy and I carry Vaseline everywhere.

- headphones. You never know when you will need to drown out the world or some boring person that is trying to talk to you on the train.

green exercise book. I bought this to use for revision but it is just full of doodles and notes about absolutely everything!

- piglina. This is a toy pig I received from my parents for doing well in my exams, she became our holiday mascot in Northumberland and went everywhere with us.

- blue tangle attack. This is a cheap version of a tangle teezer. I bought it from Poundland and it is really handy for fixing my mad hair, Daisy has one too.

- nintendo ds lite. This was my brother's, but it somehow made it's way into my possession after I lost mine in my room somewhere... I love having this handy for long journeys.

- iPhone 4s and iPhone 3gs, I am using both at the moment. The 4s has a better camera and I would be using it as a phone but I am yet to order a nano sim for it.

- round yellow sunglasses. I bought these from Tiger. a few weeks ago because my vintage sunglasses broke *cries*. These were a good replacement especially as they were only £4.

- map of Alnwick castle & map of Lindisfarne Castle. These have been left in my bag from our recent holiday to Northumberland, they bring back good memories.

- black beanie hat. I love this hat, it is so warm. It cost me 20p in the Primark sale and I wore it when Daisy and I went swimming in the sea in a vain attempt to keep warm.

So that is what is in my bag, I really hope you guys don't carry around as much junk as I do. I think it is about time I had a bit of a clear out!

Song of the week

Hey Guys,
This weeks song is from the band Sheppard. Sheppard is a Brisbane-based indie-pop band. Originally formed in 2009 as a duo consisting of siblings Amy and George Sheppard. I recently discovered them on MTV and I love their song Geromino.

Song of the Week (featuring General News)

Hey Guys,

'Renaissance Girl' by Oh Land is a seriously catchy tune and I can not stop singing it, for these reasons it is my Song of the Week. Oh Land is a Danish singer/songwriter and record producer, this song is part of her third album, 'Wish Bone', which was released late last year.

Oh Land's website is cool and I recommend you check it out here...

General News

Last Sunday we went to V-Festival and had a wonderful day; watch out for a post all about this very soon.
We will be receiving our GCSE results on Thursday and although we are nervous, we are also very excited. After waiting so long it is weird being so close to having our results, we are just hoping all our hard work has paid off!
On Friday we are off to Northumberland for a week on holiday, which is really exciting! We are taking our laptops with us so we will still be able to blog and maybe a haul will follow our week away, who knows.

We hope you are all having a fab summer.

Book Review: The Fiery Heart (A Bloodlines Novel)

Hey Guys,

I got back from a lovely holiday in Italy a few days ago and whilst there I read a book called 'The Fiery Heart' by Richelle Mead. If you recognise her name this because she is the New York times bestselling author, who wrote the infamous Vampire Academy Series. The first book of that series, 'Vampire Academy', was recently adapted for the big screen and is a film both Daisy and I really like.

find out more about the film here...  www.imdb.com/title/tt1686821/

Anyway on with the book review...

This book is part of a spin off series called 'Bloodlines'. It delves into the world that the characters in the 'Vampire Academy Series' live, the main character being an Alchemist named Sydney. Spin offs often fail but from reading this book I can safely say that Mead has done an excellent job.

'When pulses quicken no secret is safe. Sydney always believed that Alchemists were born to protect vampire secrets and human lives - until she met Marcus and turned her back on everything she once knew.

But she's not free yet. When her sister Zoe arrives, Sydney can only tell her half-truths about her past. And with every word she risks exposure - and the fatal consequences.
Consumed by passion and vengeance, Sydney must choose her path once and for all. Even if that means harnessing her magical powers to destroy the way of life she was raised to defend.'

I started with the 4th book because it was the only one I had, thankfully Mead's writing is so good that I found it easy to understand what was happening.

I really like the way this book interlinks itself with the 'Vampire Academy' series, I know this from watching the Vampire Academy film, and so if you loved those books or the film reading the 'Bloodlines' series is a must.

One thing I love about this book is that the narrative switches between Sydney and her boyfriend Adrian at each chapter, this allowed me to gain a greater understanding of the thoughts and feelings of all the characters in the book and made it even more interesting.

The book is full of suspense and romance, and upon finishing this book I know it is a must that I buy the next one as I will never be satisfied not knowing what happens, fyi 'The Fiery Heart' ends on a huge cliffhanger and I want answers! Luckily Book number 5 came out recently so I will be able to read on, after that I will have to wait until Feb 2015 though I fully think that it will be worth the wait.

Song of the week

Hey Guys.
I'm kind of obsessed with this song by Deaf Havana. Deaf Havana are an English alternative rock band from Hunstanton and King's Lynn in the English county of Norfolk. The band was formed in 2005. The song is called 'Everybody's Dancing and I want to die', but it's a lot more upbeat then the title suggests.

To Be Read Jar

Hey Guys.
Holly recently found my TBR jar, and suggested that I share it with you.

I created a TBR jar to help me pick the next book to read. I always have trouble picking which book to read next and this jar comes in handy.

It's very easy to make.

All you need is:
Jar
Paper
Pen
Scissors

You simply write out all of the books that you want to read.
You then cut them out and put them in the jar. It's that simple!

Song of The Week

Hey Guys,

I think Chvrches are fab and recently discovered their song 'The Mother We Share', which I have chosen as my Song of The Week.

This song was played in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony, this is fitting as Chvrches are a 3-piece Scottish band and proud. Chvrches' sound is great, it is quite electronic and 'Neon Gold described their sound as "a godless hurricane of kinetic pop energy".' They have done an excellent cover of 'Do I Wanna Know?' by the Arctic Monkeys; I found this on tumblr. a few days ago and I really love it!

July Nails

Hey Guys,

Holly
So summer is finally here and along with it comes a great opportunity to paint nails all different colours and jazzy patterns, in fact let's go crazy with glitter and neon colours to embrace summer...

Those of you who know me well will know that none of the above applies to me at any point in the year and that includes summer. Whilst everyone is parading dazzling summer nails, I like to stick to my typical nail colours; my staples that I wear throughout the year, come rain or shine.

Here are my 3 favourites at the moment:

1. Easy Peasy - Topshop £5.00
2. Black Cab - Rimmel London £2.40
3. Desire - Rimmel London £5.00

I wear these nail varnishes throughout the year. They are all really good quality, especially Desire by Rimmel London, which also has a flat brush making for easy application. Topshop nail varnish is excellent quality and you can also get this colour in matt finish. I feel like it is a necessity, well for me anyway, to own black nail varnish because it simply goes with so many outfits. This Rimmel Lasting Finish Polish is very durable and I have found that it hardly chips, I would definitely recommend it.

Daisy
Like Holly said it's the time for bright colours. Summer is also the time to try out fake nail - well in my opinion it is. Primark do cheap fake nails and their glue is really good, my favourite is the 'Daisy pattern Fashion Nails'

My favourites have also been the Rimmel London 'Sweet Crush' and 'Fruity scent'. Although these colours are quite summery, I have a feeling that they'll come out with more wintery colours soon; but the fruity scents will also help me get through school. I will always recommend Rimmel because of their amazing quality, and if you don't believe, go try them!
