Hey Guys,
Through the Spotify top 100 songs I came across the song 'Ugly Heart' by G.R.L.

I've also been singing 'Shake it off' by Taylor Swift non stop this week https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfWlot6h_JM

Lilac Edge

Hey Guys,
Lately I've been loving the store Lilac Edge. Lilac Edge is a handmade jewellery shop, owned by Alice Hargate, which sells; jumpers, necklaces, chokers, bracelets, anklets, earrings and srunchies.
I'm not 100% as to how I found out about this shop - probably while I was stalking somebody on Instagram - but I'm so happy I did.
Everything is so reasonably priced, if not even cheaper in my opinion, and everything that I've bought so far has been excellent quality and the customer service is great.

I've been purchasing a lot of my friends' presents from here and so far everybody likes them - and at a party last week, I received a lot of compliments on my 'transparent triangle gemstone' choker.
I also own the 18" silver chain 'rose quartz arrow' necklace, 18" silver chain 'sun & moon' necklace and an 18" black cord 'daisy' necklace.

My personal favourites are the scrunchies - and in my growing collect I have the lilac, mint, purple and wine red velvet ones, and I'm thinking of getting the 'navy blue' velvet one next as well as buying the 24" silver chain 'arrow head' necklace. There are four types of necklaces to choose from: a choker, 18" black cord, 18" silver chain and a 24" silver chain.

For Holly's 17th I gave her the black velvet 'sunflower' choker and 'red tartan' scrunchie, and one of the first things she told me when I saw her was "that choker is amazing".

Long story short, if you want hight quality, inexpensive, most likely one off (if you don't tell your friends about it) pieces of jewellery and/or clothing, go to Lilac Edge. Not only will you be getting some amazing products, but you'll be supporting an independent shop run by just one person.
Also for a little discount, if you follow the Lilac Edge instagram account, there are always some really good discounts going on, they happen all the time so don't fret if you miss out on one.

Song of the Week

Hey Guys,

My song of the week this week is Strong by London Grammar. I have loved this song for a long time so I thought it was about time it was my Song of the Week.

London Grammar are a wonderful 3 piece electro-pop group, made up of Hannah Reid, Dan Rothman and Dominic Major. This song is really relaxing and listening to this when I'm stressed can really help.

Song of the Week

Hey Guys,

I am doing Song of the Week this week because Daisy is away at the moment, so sorry this is late! I have chosen 'I'm Not Yours' by Angus and Julia Stone. Angus and Julia are a brother and sister from Sydney in Australia and they formed their folk-blues duo in 2006.

I really like this song, as although it is sad it is still relaxing. The video is really simple, in black and white, but effective in getting across their point. I recommend you give it a watch, it is animated and uses cats to tell the story of the song.

V Festival / Weston Park 2014

Hey Guys,

A couple of weekends ago we went to the V- Festival at Weston Park. It was my third time going and Daisy's first, it was an awesome day!

On the day the artists we saw were...

  • The Stranglers
  • Kodaline
  • Bastille
  • The Kaiser Chiefs
  • Ed Sheeran
  • Foxes
  • Elbow
  • Neon Trees
  • Icona Pop (who we also met!!)
  • The Strypes
  • Birdy
Holly
Favourite artist/s on the day - I was so happy to see Neon Trees, I thought because they are American that I would probably never see them, but they were there! They completely exceeded my expectations, so so good. Birdy was also really awesome, I have been a fan of her music for a long time so to finally see her live was great. She is so inspirational and talented.
Who I had the most fun dancing to - Definitely Ed Sheeran. Although we were a long way back from the stage, he was brilliant, as always and we danced like crazy people. Daisy and Tabitha lifted me up and although this didn't last very long it was hilarious. Everyone we were there with had great fun dancing during this set.

Best moment - Meeting Icona Pop was definitely up there and although they left before we could get a photo *cries*, it was still so exciting! I thought the whole day was so much fun, as it always is and I honestly find it impossible to choose a best moment .

Daisy

Favourite artist/s on the day -  Birdy's set was one of my favourites, and although I didn't know many of her songs by the end of her set she easily became one of my new favourite artists. A lot of Birdy's songs were acoustic and it made me very jealous of how strong her voice is at such a young age!

Who I had the most fun dancing to - NEON TREES! Holly made me go and see them and I'm so happy she did! I have fallen in love with them; as soon as I got home I downloaded their albums. They were so lively which made such an amazing atmosphere in the tent; one of my favourite songs of theirs is 'Everybody Talks'.

Best moment - I would have to agree with Holly, the best moment was meeting Icona Pop. It was an amazing experience for my first festival, and it just makes me want to go to more!

8tracks

Hey Guys,

8tracks is a great music website, I discovered it a few months ago. For those of you who don't know, it is a website that allows you to create playlists of at least 8 tracks or more from all the songs you can think of. It is a popular website with bloggers that run music blogs or share playlists of the week.

I think it is a great concept and I love browsing the website, often discovering new music that I would never have otherwise found.

I have loved the idea of mixtapes since I discovered them watching 'Perks of Being a Wallflower'.
The concept of the mixtape is so lovely and thoughtful, I think this is why I love 8tracks so much. It is the modern way of creating a mixtape of music you love and want to share.

'8tracks is the best place for people who care about music to make and discover refreshingly human playlists.'

My favourite playlist on the website is entitled 'Roar like it's the 20s' and is by a user called Juilanna from America. I think the 20s is one of the most interesting eras in our history and that the music of the time was genius. It holds a fab 20s sound and is so well put together, apparently it isn't just me who likes it as it has had over 44,000 plays.

Listen here...

My favourite track on the playlist is by 'Belle Belle' by Electro Swing Circus, it is just so jazzy and upbeat, I could dance all day to it!

Visit the 8tracks website to browse some amazing playlists, or join and create your own, let your imagination run free...

Song of the Week

Hey Guys,

'Hate To See Your Heart Break' by Paramore is my Song of the Week. Now don't stop reading just because I have chosen a Paramore song, this is actually a very sweet song and I cannot stop humming it!

The song is from their self titled fourth album which includes the hit single 'Still Into You'. What I love about this album is how diverse the songs are and that it contains three short interludes, these feature just  Hayley singing accompanied by a ukulele, I play ukulele and so was instantly won over.
