Song of the Week

Hey Guys,

It's Daisy, sorry I've been a bit awol for a while, I've had a very busy summer holiday completing my Gold DofE, but I'm back and I hope you're all having a nice bank holiday.

The song I've chosen this week is from a new artist I have discovered, Jose Vanders, she's a piano based folk-pop musician. My favourite song of hers is "Faces Going Places".

I'm unable to find an original video of this song but click here for one I found onYoutube; and click here for an amazing cover of it.

Ps. Now that I've completed all that, you should be expecting some hauls from me and a few film reviews in the near future (that is if school isn't too hectic).

Song of the Week

Hey Guys,

Sorry this is late, but my Song of the Week, technically my song of last week, is 'Life With You' by the Proclaimers. On Saturday I was lucky enough to only have to pay £10 to see The Proclaimers, who were playing at Shrewsbury Flower Show. They played for a good hour and a half with a really varied set of songs. It was great to finally see them live. I really enjoyed it, hence why they created my song of the week.

Song of the Week

Hi Guys,

The song I've chosen this week is from the indie pop band from NY, The Score, with the song 'Oh my Love'. I've not got anything interesting to say about this other than I like the song so I suggest you listen to it...

Uganda Haul

Hey Guys,

I returned from my trip to Uganda last Monday morning and am so excited to share some of the things that I bought with you. Uganda is an amazing country with amazing people, never have I felt so welcome in a country. I can not begin to explain how breathtaking my time was there and how much I enjoyed the entire experience. Perhaps I will do a separate post on my favourite things we did there another time but for now here is my haul...

1. Tiny Antique Mask from a small shop near where we had breakfast on our last morning.
2. Spider Web Bowl from Kampala Craft Market (KCM). Kampala is the capital city of Uganda.
3. Zebra with wheels from KCM.
4. Red and Black Mask, from KCM, and Spatula from our link school, Lords Meade.
5. Wooden Painted Bird from Queen Elizabeth National Park, whilst we were on safari.
6. Two Wooden Painted Figurines from KMC.
7. Fabric Doll from a different market in Kampala.
8. Elephant Painting from Lords Meade.
9. Wooden Salad Servers from KMC.

10. School Tank Top from Lords Meade.
11. Blue Dress with Elephants on from Jinja High Street.
12. Bracelets from Mirembe Cottage, Necklace from Jinja High Street and Necklace from Yamba

Everything in the marketsand shops in Uganda was lovely and if I had been given more time and more luggage space I could have bought back so much more. I have not included prices of things in this haul because I can't remember most of them, but lets just say that it was insanely cheap and I don't think anything in this haul cost me more than £5.00. I just have one thing left to say in this post and that is if you ever get the opportunity to go to Uganda, take it. I know that you won't regret it.

Song of the Week

Hey Guys,

This week I have chosen 'The Night I Heard Caruso Sing' by Everything But The Girl as my Song of the Week. My dad introduced me to this duo, Tracey Thorne and Ben Watt, and they are amazing. What makes me want to listen to this song over and over again is the perfection of the harmonies, they are just so in sync and you can tell that these are two incredibly talented people.

You can listen to 'The Night I Heard Caruso Sing' here.

I can't do a post about Everything But The Girl without mentioning another amazing song of theirs called 'Apron Strings'. This song is beautiful, but also saddening and features on the album 'Idlewild'.

You can listen to 'Apron Strings' here.

Q - Queen Bee

Hey Guys,

I thought I would do something a bit different for this alphabet post and base it around a person. Partly because I find summer fashion posts hard to do because I naturally sway towards wearing dark colours which are not readily available in the summer and partly because it is nice to have a change. So without further ado let's explore Lorde's Style.

Born in Auckland, New Zealand in 1996 with a passion for singing and song writing, Lorde finally burst onto the music scene in 2013 with her debut EP 'The Love Club'. She sealed her fame with her album 'Pure Heroine', which reached the UK top ten. In particular her song 'Royals', from the album, which was an instant hit, reaching number one almost immediately. 'Royals' also gave Lorde two Grammys in 2014.

1. This is an outfit Lorde wore in 2013 and I love it. It is a modern twist on the cute ("kawaii") schoolgirl look.  I like how she doesn't let her height (5'5") get in the way of her wearing midi skirts, something that magazines often advertise as being for the taller amongst us. The stripey sock and black shoe combo is great and further proves that a simple colour scheme of black and white really works.

2. Here Lorde rocks a fishnet top and a pleather skirt. This outfit is simple but effective, drawing attention to her on the stage. She wore a similar top in her video for 'Tennis Court', with it working equally as well there. She manages to make the top look youthful instead of like a halloween costume and I don't know many people who could get away with this. Overall it is a brilliant outfit.

3&4. I have included these suits because Lorde has a definite style when on her own stage, generally wearing long flowing dresses with lots of material or funky tailoring like this. I like how she teams her suits with a bralet each time because it brings depth to her outfit. Every piece of tailoring she wears, and trust me there is a lot, is immaculate and perfect for her. Here she looks fabulous in both pink and white, rocking the 'hands in the pockets look' like nobody else can.

Want to see more of Lorde's style picks? Check out Vanity Fair's 'Queen of Darkness: A Journey Through Lorde's Style Evolution' here.

Song of the Week

Hey Guys,

The song I've chosen this week is 'Home' by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zero. This song was released in 2009 so I'm certain you would have heard it before as it's also played on quite a lot of adverts.
There are two reasons why I have chosen this song. The first being I recently rewatched 'Stuck in Love' while on holiday and this song is played at the beginning and end of the film (it sort of symbolises a whole year that's passed, I won't go on but if you've seen the film you'll understand) and I forgot how much I enjoyed the song. The second reason is since watching that film I had to do my Gold DofE - which consists of 4 days camping - and throughout those challenging days I constantly had this song in my head reminding me that I was soon going to be home, which was a lovely comforting thought when trudging through water logged fields.

I hope that this song cheers you up as much as it does me, click here to listen to it.

Important Video: Chummy Chatter

Hey Guys,

I thought today I would draw to your attention this YouTube collaboration video between Zoella and Sprinkle of Glitter. To me this is a really important video that covers a serious topic of people voicing their opinions about other peoples bodies. Something that in my opinion, which has been reinforced by this video, is never acceptable.

'You don't need to ask people why their body is the way it is, it just is the way it is.'

As Zoe and Louise point out, it is so rude to comment on people's body sizes in a scrutinising way. There is a fine line between trying to compliment someone and just being plain rude, so the easiest thing seems to be not to attempt to compliment on body size but instead compliment someones outfit, for example, or one of their other great features!

'I don't agree that anyone else should comment on anyone else's size.'

Asking someone why they are fat/skinny is rude whoever says it. You never know what situation that person may be in and if they do have an eating disorder asking this is not going to help at all. It is important to remember....

'There should never need to be a justification as to why you are the way you are.'

I didn't realise how rude calling someone skinny was until it happened to me, and it is a really hurtful thing to say. I think, as mentioned, it is the word skinny (or thin) that is rude. Zoe and Louise do not hesitate to point out that it is just as offensive as calling someone fat. You wouldn't go up to someone and call them fat, so don't go up to someone and call them skinny. It goes on the basis that if you don't have something good to say don't say it.

If this is happening/ has happened to you, I think Louise gives the best advice in the video, which is...

'If you're happy and you're healthy then screw what everyone else thinks'

Watch Zoe and Louise's video here.

Song of the Week

Hey Guys,

I am doing this post in advance of when you are going to see it, as I am off to Uganda tomorrow, so really it will be a Song of a few Weeks ago, but that doesn't quite have the same ring to it!

I have chosen 'Electric Love' by BØRNS as my Song of the Week. I found this song whilst browsing through playlists on 8tracks, 'an internet radio created by people not algorithms'. A while ago I did a post about 8tracks, so to find out more click here to see this post.

BØRNS is an American singer-songwriter, with his real name being Garrett Borns. He is a relatively new artist who, in 2014, released his debut single '10,000 Emerald Pools' and has hair that I am super jealous of to be honest. My favourite song has to be 'Electric Love' because it is so catchy and for once in summer I am actually listening to songs that fit the season, this being one of them!

Song of the week

Hey Guys,

As I think i've mentioned before I have become a fan of Taylor Swifts newer work, I'm sure a lot of you have heard her new song 'Bad Blood' as there was a lot of hype surrounding the music video. Anyway, while scrolling through tumblr I came across a remix combing 'Bad Blood' and "Never Getting Back Together" - naturally this had to be my song for the week.

P- Pastel

Hey Guys,

For P we are continuing on the colour theme, with my last alphabet post being all about the colour orange, and are moving on to pastels. I love pastel colours. I think they are cute and super summery, although I am never actually sure if they suit me. I think they best suit pale people with light blonde hair, it just works.

Here are just a few examples of the many pastel clothes on the market at the moment. Spring is the best time to buy pastels and that is when shops seem to stock the largest amount. Maybe it has something to do with the colour palette of Easter? However most shops continue this trend into summer and it is a trend that never really seems to disappear.

Petites Blue Skort £35.00 - Miss Selfridge
Bell Sleeve Coat £59.99 - Zara
Short Sleeve Knit Sweater £17.99 - Zara
Trapeze Midi Dress £45.50 - The WhitePepper

I recently discovered The WhitePepper through Asos and it is such a unique online clothes and accessories shop. It has a lovely range of pastel goodies, as well as much more. I have my eye on their Graphic Print Leggings (black) as well as a few of their sale items, so these may be appearing in a haul soon.

There are also some great pastel accessories floating around at the moment. If you are not quite ready to jump into full on pastel mode, maybe you could accessorise with some of these goodies...

Herschel Supply Co. Settlement Backpack in Lilac £40.00 - Urban Outfitters
Mint Sliders £10.00 - Dorothy Perkins
Urban Eccentric Pastel 5 pack Socks £7.50 - Asos
Casio Baby G Pink Digital Watch £65.00 - Asos

I would say that the go to place for accessories, pastel or not, is Asos. They have such a huge range that purely cannot be beaten and products for every price range. They also do free returns which many online shops don't do, meaning you can send off for loads of stuff, try it on and any of it that you don't want you can send back to them for free.

Song of the Week

Hey Guys,

This week I have chosen two songs to feature in my Song of the Week post, this is mainly because I am incredibly indecisive and couldn't choose just one of these wonderful songs.

My first is The Key The Secret by Urban Cookie Collective. This is a really fun summer song and is really catchy. I came across this in one of Zoella's videos on her second channel (morezoella) and looked it up because it sounded so cool. It is so 90s and has really helped me get into the summer mood.

Watch The Key The Secret here and watch Zoella's second channel videos here, I was going to link the exact video but I can't remember which one it is, oops!

My second song of the week is I'm Kissing You by Des'ree. I recently re-watched Romeo and Juliet, directed by Baz Luhrmann and this is the song that plays at their first meeting, it is, in my opinion, so beautiful.

Those of you who have been reading Haisy for a long time will know that I love, love this film and could watch it forever. This is a great song to help you relax if you are feeling stressed and is part of my de-stressing playlist.

Watch I'm Kissing You here.

Song Of the Week

Hey Guys,

The song I've chosen this week is "Sun is Shining" by Axwell Ingross. Axwell is a Swedish DJ and was part of the Swedish House Mafia - which is another favourite of mine click here to listen to my favourite song of theirs. The reason I like this song so much is purely because of the meaning/lyrics; "the sun is shining and so are you".

Egyptian Magic Review

Hey Guys,

For a long time I saw Egyptian Magic All Purpose Skin Cream raved about in magazines such as Vogue and by celebrities such as Kate Hudson and Cara Delevingne, who when telling Teen Vogue what was in her bag said this, "I always have my adapter because I’m constantly moving around, and then there’s eyebrow gel, Egyptian Magic cream, eucalyptus oil—it’s nice to smell something lovely.” (Teen Vogue, September 2014). So what is so great about this 'magic' cream? Well I received a pot for Christmas last year and I have been loving it ever since, read on to find out why.

This cream is a really versatile product and the website claims it has up to 19 different uses, you can read about the uses here. I mostly use it as an all over moisturiser, as a makeup remover and a natural hair conditioner, which makes my hair soft and shiny. Although the pot seems small at first, I have found this product to be long lasting.

I often have problems finding moisturisers and skin creams because I have eczema, which is honestly a nightmare. One of the reasons I was drawn to Egyptian Magic is because it is completely natural and only contains six ingredients, which are honey, beeswax, olive oil, royal jelly, bee pollen and bee propolis, making it a must have for everyone out there with sensitive skin, eczema or psoriasis.

To apply it all you need to do is rub it in your hands until it becomes oily and rub it wherever you so wish. I have found that the more you warm it up in your hands before application the better the level of absorption, and compared to a lot of other moisturisers I use the absorption is far better.

You can purchase Egyptian Magic from a number of shops in the UK such as Liberty London, click here to purchase. Amazon also sells it.

One thing that could put people off this product is the price and I think that if I hadn't received this as a present then i probably wouldn't have bought it myself as it is a bit pricey. The normal price is £29.00 and to be honest I think it is worth it. I love this cream and it has helped my eczema so much. It has so many uses so can replace many products and it is always nice to know that if you are not 100% satisfied with it then you can send it back, even if it is half used.

Song of the Week

Hey Guys,

My Song of the Week is Unstoppable by Lianne La Havas, I heard this song on Radio 2 the other evening and instantly fell in love with it. It has been really great song for this week because we have returned to school and life is busier than ever. It has been relaxing me through this first hectic week and an added bonus is that the video is really beautiful too, with Lianne dancing her way through the song.

Easy DIY Bits & Bobs Box

Hey Guys,

My desk is full of bottles of deodorant, body spray, hair protection spray etc, so I decided it was about time I found a home for them. After much deliberation I decided to create a shallow box container for them to go in that I could keep on my desk so they weren't just everywhere.

You will need...

A pencil, a ruler, a shoebox (maybe the lid), some acrylic paint, a paintbrush and something to protect the surface you are working on.

1. (optional step) Paint the entire body of your shoebox with a colour of your choice and leave to dry. If you already like the colour of your shoebox you can ignore this step, I did this and left mine yellow.

2. Lay something, such as newspaper, down onto your surface and choose your next paint colour, preferably something that contrasts or complements your base paint/box colour colour.

3. Put the lid of the shoebox back on and draw around your shoebox lid onto the main body of your shoebox. Take the lid from your shoebox and discard it. You will be left with a line going all the way round your shoebox, slightly higher than halfway up. (alternatively you can do this with just a pencil and a ruler).

4. Paint, with a different colour to that used in step 1, below the line you have drawn. I used black to contrast the yellow of the box. If you want the line to be straight you can put masking tape above it and peel it off when the paint is dry.

5. Leave the paint to dry and, if it needs it, mine did, apply a second coat of paint. Again leave to dry.

6. You may want to stick a piece of wrapping paper the size of the base into the shoebox, this will make it look less like a shoebox and more like a cute little box.

7. Voila! You have a new storage box, to keep whatever you wish in. You can also make a smaller version of this for storing nail varnish or a larger version for books.

Urban Outfitters - Cushions & Candles

Hey Guys,

When doing my post on Orange I noticed how lovely the home section of Urban Outfitters is. Two of my favourite home accessories are candles and cushions, both of which Urban Outfitters stock. The candles are really original and have lovely scents, not only so do they sell candles but they also sell candle holders, which can be tricky to find on the high-street.

Ocean Wood Lid Candle £30
Hanna Blossom Floral Scented Tea Candles £6
Species by The Thousands Soy Candle in Levitating Lavender £35
Large Jar Candle Holder in Black £40

Find more Urban Outfitters Candles here.

I can't wait until I have my own house because I simply can't wait to decorate it and buy all the accessories for it. Urban Outfitters' cushions will be one of the first things I will put in my house because they are gorgeous, with many of them coming from outside stockists. At the moment my favourites are the Baines & Fecker cushions, they have simple but cute patterns that would fit perfectly on any bed or sofa.

Baines & Fricker Cat Cushion £50
Embroidered Eye Cushion Cover in White £20
Woouf Everything Okay Cushion £20 (sale)
The Rise and Fall Sleeping Fox Cushion £35

Find more Urban Outfitters Cushions here.

I really like the Sleeping Fox cushion by The Rise and Fall because it has such an immense amount of detail which makes it lovely to look at. The Rise and Fall also have other animals available on the Urban Outfitters website, including a cat. They also have their own website that you can access by clicking here. On this website there are not only more beautiful cushions but also pillows, blankets and much more.

O - Orange

Hey Guys,

We are really getting through the alphabet now and I thought it was about time to do a colour post. I have always found orange a tricky colour to wear and those of you who know me well will know that I like to stick to dark colours, that there is rarely anything bright in my wardrobe. I think this is because I feel most comfortable in dark colours but maybe this summer it is time to step out of my comfort zone, with orange perhaps...

I decided to stick to one shop for this post and my chosen shop is Urban Outfitters. I have loved Urban Outfitters for such a long time and I definitely think that it is a good shop to go to for more individual pieces even if it is still a high-street shop. I particularly like their Urban Renewal section.

Here are just a few of the things they had to offer on the orange front...

1. Urban Renewal Vintage Customised Washed Out Shirt in Orange - £30
2. Dotted Tumbler - £6
4. Formula 10.0.6 Deep Down Detox Mud Mask - £10
5. Duck Umbrella in Orange - £18
6. BDG Cropped Anorak in Rust - £69
7. Cooperative by Urban Outfitters Cut-Out Front Playsuit in Rust - £30
8. House of Holland Coco Lace Cropped Jacket in Orange -£265

Orange Is The New Black is a television show which has been running since 2013 and has been hugely successful. I haven't watched it, although I have been meaning to and I am hoping that it is available on Amazon Prime. However I know quite a few people who watch it and have said it is great, so maybe if you are looking for a new T.V show to watch this could be it.

Another thing to mention is the Bleach London "Super Cool Colours" in Washed Out Orange. I saw someone in town the other day who had obviously done their hair with this and it looks absolutely fabulous. I think the Bleach London dyes are so well made and I am hoping to dip dye my hair in one of their dyes.  I bought it at Christmas in the sales, it is a lovely lilac colour and I can't wait until the summer comes to try it out.

Lastly comes the obligatory mention of the Terry's Chocolate Orange. These have to be one of my favourite types of chocolate and I find it really hard to get them unless it is near christmas, which is so annoying. I like how they have made packets of pieces of orange in different flavours, such as popping candy and I was so pleased to find out that they have made a chocolate bar. However my favourite will forever be a traditional chocolate orange which you have to whack open, it is good fun and they taste fab, a win-win situation.

BeFunky Photo Effects

Hey Guys,

One website that I have been using a lot recently is BeFunky. BeFunky is a great website which you can use to edit photos and create photo collages. I use the collage feature the most, to create collages for Haisy, they can be as simple or as complicated as you want.

Although I haven't really used the photo editor much it seems to be a really great piece of kit. There are so many options, even going as far as teeth whitening and cloning. One of my favourite things about the photo editor is the art tab, which allows you to make your photos into 'pieces of art' by putting certain effects on them.

Along with the many effects there are a few choices of frames and I really like the Instant option that can make your photo look like a polaroid. If you don't own a polaroid camera this is the place to go. If you want your photos made into actual polaroids you can visit websites such as Polaroid Fotobar.
The price for an original sized one is $1, which I think is a bit let than a pound. You can access Polaroid Fotobar by clicking here. There are also many apps on the app store that offer a similar service.

Using the collage maker is simple and easy, and there is a step by step guide to help you through it if you do get stuck. There is a huge choice of free templates and you can choose colours and backgrounds to go on them.

On BeFunky there are hundreds of free options and you can really go crazy editing as many photos and making as many collages as you want without paying their plus price. However if you do want access more templates, designs and stickers you can pay the price of $4.95 a month or $24.95 a year. This upgrade will also bring the luxury of there being no advertisements.

BeFunky has an app so you can edit on the go and create collages wherever you are. This is available on the App Store and Google Play.

I think one of my favourite aspects of this website is the goodies, which are basically stickers and accessories you can add to your photos, making them individual to you. The text is also really great as there is quite a lot of choice and you can really personalise it. There is also the option to make your photos into cards or just use the card templates.

I recommend this website as a fun and easy to use photo editor and collage maker. It is cute and free (unless you sign up for BeFunky plus), which I think makes it perfect. You can explore BeFunky here.

Song of the Week

Hey Guys,

My Song of the Week is Someone New by Hozier. I love his song 'Take Me to Church', as most people seem to, and so I thought I would check out his album. I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. Someone New is a relaxing and upbeat track with a really catchy chorus, I cannot stop singing it.

Listen to Someone New by Hozier here. Starring alongside him in this video is Natalie Dormer , best known for her current role in Game of Thrones. This is the first music video she has been in, to my knowledge, and I think she does a great job. You can visit Hozier's website here, this has news, music and a store. For all things Hozier this is where you need to be.

Dr. Martens Review

Hey Guys,

When I was in Year 10 my parents bought me a pair of Dr. Martens as school shoes. This was my second pair, as I had previously been given Dr. Martens 1460 W Boots in patent. These have been great boots but unfortunately I have just about grown out of them (they only fit me when I wear them with tights). Although they took a long time to wear in these shoes have been incredibly comfortable.

They are also really great in snow and ice because they are waterproof and have grippy, air-cushioned soles. Heres what Dr. Marten say about their soles .... 'air-cushioned sole, oil and fat-resistant, offers good abrasion and slip-resistance.' And that is why they are great winter boots.

So back to my school shoes. These were the typical Dr. Marten shoe, a pair of 1461 3 eyelet shoes. Both of my pairs of Dr. Martens are their most famous styles that form, in their words,  'the foundation block of (their) brand'. My 1461 shoes are my favourite ever pair of shoes and I wear them absolutely everywhere, they go with just about anything. I couldn't recommend them more highly if I tried, they are wonderful.

Another great thing about them is that they are so hardwearing. I have had mine for nearly three years and bar a few scuffs on the toes they are as good as new. They are incredibly comfortable as well and over these three years of wear, at school and at home, I feel like they have moulded to my feet.

On their website, which you can access by clicking here, they are also having a sale. It is great when they have sales because one downside of Dr. Marten is that they are quite expensive. Saying this however, I do think you pay for quality. There is a great choice in the sale and some really individual designs, for example...

top left - Bethan - £90
bottom left -1461 (psyche tattoo) - £75
top right - Polley - £75
bottom right - Pascal - £60

Dr. Martens have a really great blog with loads of style inspiration, you can access it by clicking here.  So if you want to buy some Dr. Martens but are unsure of what to wear them with then this is the perfect place for you to look.

Overall I would really recommend Dr. Martens as comfortable, long lasting shoes/boots/sandals that are really worth the price and an added bonus is that the look great!

Song of the Week

Hey Guys,

Last week I discovered a new artist called Orla Gartland. Gartland is "an Irish singer/songwriter from Dublin who gained popularity from posting cover songs on her YouTube account."
Both of her EPs "Roots" and "Lonely people" can be found on iTunes here.

My favourite song of hers is "Clueless" which has a lovely simple tune which is upbeat and catchy.

Click here to watch Clueless, and another song that I recommend from her EPs is the song "Roots" which can be found here.

Holly's Haul

Hi Guys,

So it has been ages since I have done a haul, I think the last one was around February time. I have been shopping a few times, but some of my favourite goodies are from charity shops, which as you know I am obsessed with. I honestly think they are such a great thing as they help worthwhile charities and it stops people throwing out perfectly good clothes, books, dvd etc etc. As a family, I am proud to say, we donate a lot of our unwanted stuff to our local charity shops and they are always so grateful. Why not have a clearout ready for summer and do some donating yourselves! Anyway on with the haul!

(left to right)
1. Black polo neck (next) - charity shop - £3.45 after searching for one of these for ages I was so happy to finally find one.
2. Back shirt dress with gold buttons - Primark - £10 I love this dress, it will be so nice for summer as it is really light.
3. Winter Coat - Topshop Sale - £10 !!!! My mum spotted this and then bought it for me, it was such a bargain. I think it was supposed to be £70. It is a shame it is coming up to summer and that I will have to wait until winter to wear it properly.
4. Red and blue cube top - Topshop Sale - £10/15 (can't remember) I was so happy to see this in the sale, it looks really arty.
5. Mustard jumper (George) - Wolverhampton Market - £1 again my mum found an absolute bargain here and this has added some much needed colour to my wardrobe.

1. 10 things I hate about you DVD - charity shop - £2 I bought this at the same time as my polo neck, and it is another thing I have wanted for a long time. Daisy introduced me to this film last summer and I have loved it ever since.
2. Marie Claire - £1.99 I bought this because it was on sale and it was much better than I was expecting it to be. They have adopted a new super cool layout and this makes the magazine a bit more interesting to read.
3. Glamour - £1 We bought this, again, because it was in the sale. I didn't think there was much of interest in it. I did like their small music feature though, featuring Girlpool and Chvrches.

Now it gets a bit random ....

1. Fish Net Sock - Primark - £1.50
2. Hello Kitty Pez Dispenser -Mollie's Sweet Shop - £1 (maybe?)
3. Peach and Mango Fruit Shoot - Poundland - £1 for 4 These are honestly so so nice and they are limited edition so I really need to go and stock up on them incase they are only making them for a certain amount of time.
4. Jellycat Sloth - a garden centre - I don't know how much it was, my parents bought him for me and isn't he just the cutest little ball of fluff!
5. Hello Kitty Plasters - Primark - £1

1. Little set of flowery drawers - a charity shop - not sure probably less than £5.
2. Larger set of drawers - again a charity shop - again I'm not sure how much they were. They were wood when my mum bought them and i have painted them white. I am hoping to do a pattern like the paintings of Mondrian on them.
3. Nike Flex Running Trainers - These are my new trainers for school as my old ones are slowly dying after 3 years of constant use. I find nike trainers really comfortable and the flexible soles of these make them easier to run in.

I hope you guys have bought or been given lots of lovely things, especially during exam time, treat yourself or a friend. It may be just the boost you/they need. I only have one exam to go now, which is General Studies, so I am super excited to have a nice break before we go back to school in a few weeks.

Song of the Week

Hey Guys,

It took me a while to decide on my Song of the Week for last week, hence why I am only writing this post today. There is so much great music out there at the moment. I finally decided on Shut Up and Dance by Walk the Moon, which surprisingly for me is actually popular. It is so upbeat and perfect to get you motivated for revision first thing in the morning. Just as Daisy was talking about last week, during this stressful time sometimes you just need to let go a bit!

Listen to Shut Up and Dance, here.

The music video is really upbeat and actually quite funny too, which makes a change. Walk the Moon are an American Indie Rock band who formed in 2008 and have had their current lineup since 2010. And to top it off their website is super stylish, access it by clicking here.

N - Nails

Hey Guys,

Those of you that have been with us since the start of Haisy will remember our obsession with nail varnish, and you will be pleased to hear that this is still with us all these years later. This post is to share with you some of the most interesting nail 'stuff' out there, it is coming up to summer after all, time to have a bit of fun!

Revlon Parfumerie Scented Nail Enamel (Lavender Soap) - £6.49
MUA Nail Fur Effect Fluffy Puff - £3.00
Ciate Perfect Paint Job Nail Polish Corrector Pen - £12.00

Models Own Colour Chrome (Blue) - £4.99
Cat Crazy Nail Stickers (asos) - £3.00
Gosh Glitter Nail Topping (Silver) - £4.99

For some pretty reasonable prices, as seen above, you can get some great new effects on your nails. My favourite has to be MUA's Fur Effect Nails, that is just so cute. I'm not quite sure how it works but I bet it looks really individual when it is done, I can't wait to buy this and give it a go.

I also love Revlon's new bottle shape for this range with the rounded lid, it looks more classy and probably stands out on the shelf. This shade, 'lavender soap', is so lovely as well.

Song of the Week

Hey Guys,

So the song I've chosen this week isn't particularly in my normal taste; as I've been stuck in the house revising I've need some cheering up and for me that involves blasting out my music, dancing along and singing at the top of my voice (even when I get all the words wrong). The song is "I really like you" - I'm sure you've all heard of it because the lyrics are really catchy and I think it's such an annoying song but I still really like it. Once you've heard it you will not be able to get it out of your head.

If you're fed up of hearing that song another one I like is "Trouble" by Iggy Azalea click here to listen. I think Azalea is a marmite situation but I've loved her since "Fancy".

Both these songs are pretty unusual for my music taste but they've been the perfect songs to lift my spirits when revising.

Song of the Week

Hey Guys,

We are sorry that we missed last week's Song of the Week post, so to make up for it I am writing a longer post about what I have been loving over the past few weeks!

I recently watched '10 Things I Hate About You' for the second time. It was great to watch it again and this time round I loved it even more! If you have never seen it I would really recommend it. One thing that really struck me this time round was the music used in the film, the soundtrack. It has a cool mixture of songs on and my particular favourites are 'Cruel to Be Kind' by Letters to Cleo and 'Bad Reputation' by Joan Jett. Not overlooking 'I Love You Baby', which in my opinion is the scene that makes the film. The main character Kat, played by Julia Stiles, is also brilliant and I think she has many great and inspirational lines, including the one below...

Listen to 'Cruel To Be Kind' here and 'Bad Reputation' here.

'Home' by is a song I have heard many times but only recently discovered it was by Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros. I think this is a fun tune for summer and it's really upbeat, making it great to have a little dance to! I think the reason this band is so great, is not only that they play indie-folk music but is that they, at any one time, have up to 12 people in their lineup. This is, in my opinion, great because it makes for a fuller, more exciting sound!

Listen to 'Home' here.

One thing that interested me this week was a remix of James Bay's 'Hold Back The River'. The song was mixed to create a far more lively song, with a slightly heavier beat. I am undecided as to whether I like it or not, so have a listen here and see what you think.

I came across the band Girlpool last week and thought they were great! They are admittedly an acquired taste and I think you need to be in the right mood for their music, but when you are in the right mood it is fab! Girlpool are a two-piece American band, who, late last year, featured as The Guardian's 'New Band of the Week'. To get a better taste of what they are all about you can read that very article, here, via. this link you can also have a listen to their songs 'Blah, Blah, Blah' and 'Jane'.

M - Monki

Hey Guys,

We have reached the midway point in our Alphabet Style posts so I for a change I have chosen a brand as letter M. The day I discovered the brand 'Monki' was a very good day, I saw them featured in a magazine, I forget which one, and looked them up, discovering something truly wonderful

As a brand it is described as this... 'Monki is a fashion brand with a world of its own, noted for its street-style-meets-Scandi-chic design and its quirky story-based store concepts.' It is a fun, yet stylish brand that features on asos and its own shop in Soho, London. A shop which I am desperate to visit, partly because it look like this on the inside...

My favourite finds on Monki at the moment are below, it was really hard to choose because it has such a great range of clothes, accessories and shoes.

Sheri Blouse £35
Juni Coat £65
Panda Key Chain £5
Monica Dress £30
Lolo Slip On £25
Hulda Sock £5

I recently noticed that they were having a sale and, although it is very reasonable priced anyway, it was great because I am always hunting for a bargain. From the sale I got a lacy, burgundy top and two pairs of quirky socks with little monsters on them. When the package arrived I couldn't believe how lovely the packaging was and it was such a fun touch which featured the Monkis (see below).

The 'Monkis' are so cute, and according to the website inhabit The Monki World. They feature on everything Monki, the packaging, the labels and even as their own toys. They are a cute way of getting Monki to become a recognisable brand, without excessive 'logo branding' all over the clothes!

The Monki website can be found here.  Monki can also be found on asos, here.  One of my favourite features of Monki is how integrated it is with its customers, encouraging them to #monkistyle and post pictures of how they have styled their new Monki purchases. It is part of the website and not only is it great if you are featured on it, which most people seemingly are, it is also a fab place to find inspiration as to how to style the pieces.
