Shopping in Birmingham

Hey Guys
Last weekend Daisy and I went shopping in Birmingham with our friend Tabitha. We had an absolutely lovely day as we had loads of time so we weren't rushed, this was good because it meant we could spend as long as we wanted in each shop.

Daisy and Tabitha were specifically looking for dresses/ outfits for Tabitha's birthday party and I was just shopping for anything and everything.
At lunch we had an Ed's Shake each, these are really very yummy, this was Daisy and Tabitha's first time having them, and from their reaction I am quite sure it won't be their last. Daisy unsurprisingly had chocolate, I had strawberry and Tabitha has butterscotch.

By the end of the day I had bought...

Beige Coloured High Heels (primark) £12
Light Pink Bag (primark) £4
Long chain of pearls (primark) £2 (wanted ones from forever 21 but I am not rich enough!)
Maybelline Baby Skin (boots) £7.99

These are without a doubt the most girly purchases I have ever made, I think I must be going through a phase!

The Fault in the Stars

Hey Guys,
I take it that all of you know that 'The Fault in our Stars' film is coming out in June and if you didn't, have you been living under a rock?

There was a trailer leak a couple of days ago which I saw before it was taken down from YouTube and the teaser trailer was released yesterday, I think. Anyway today the official trailer was released TODAY!!

I'm also assuming that you'll have read the book, otherwise you probably wouldn't care and I'm pleased to say that John Green announced (tweeted), I can't find the exact quote but it went something like this, 'the majority of the film is exactly what it is like in the book'.

I can't believe that we have to wait until the 6th June to see this, but I'm 100% sure it'll be worth the wait.

Here's the link to the trailer - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ItBvH5J6ss

Song of the Week

Hey Guys,
So you might have noticed from my Frozen post, that I'm a bit obsessed and I've been listening to 'Let it go' on repeat all last week; I absolutely love this song, and know most (not all which annoys Holly) the lyrics. Go give it a listen, the animation video is my favourite but I'll also link Demi Lovato's video.

The Weave Of New And Old

Hey Guys,
On Tumblr earlier I came across these hair details from the Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2014 show (perhaps the couture show although I am not entirely sure). I wanted to show you because, as you know, both Daisy and I absolutely love excitingly coloured hair. I thought that the range of hair colours featured in these pictures was really delicate and subtle, and I really admired the way the hair stylists have weaved flowers, leaves and jewellery into the hair.

The hair is modern in colour yet the braid has been styled in a classic, traditional way. The incorporation of flowers in hairstyles is also traditional and has been used for hundreds of years. I think the people who worked on this hair in the Dolce & Gabbana Show have done a magnificent job in weaving the old and the new together.

The Little Princess Trust and Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity

Hey Guys,
I would like to talk to you about a charity called Little Princess Trust.
The Little Princess Trust is a charity which provides wigs to boys and girls in the UK and Ireland, who have lost their hair through cancer. To find out more please visit their website, there is also a really touching video that you should definitely watch.

They whole reasons I'm making this post is because Carrie Hope Fletcher, who I'm sure everybody in the UK will know, just made a video on YouTube talking about how she's going to cut off 7-12 inches of her hair off and donate it to Little Princess.
John Green was the inspiration for her, as the actress, Shailene Woodley, playing Hazel in the film adaptation of 'The Fault in our Stars', cut her hair for the role and donated it to charity which sparked off the campaign #HairForHazel.
Some people might not think that's a big deal, but I love my hair and I couldn't imagine how different I'd feel without it and especially being a teenage, means it's really important. You can donate to Little Princess on their website.

Carrie, however, is obviously donating to Little Princess and has chosen to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity. In the past Carrie has done fundraising for GOSHCC before and knows where the money is going first hand.
You can donate to GOSHCC on her 'Just Giving Website', where you can donate between £2.00 and £100,000.
I'm ashamed to admit that I have only donated £2.00, it's better than nothing, but I hope in the future when I've grown up from the 'my hair is so important' phase that I could do something like this.

The Couture Shows

Hey Guys,
I was on the Vogue website and saw that they had shared pictures from both the Valentino Couture Show and the Elie Saab Couture Show. I thought that these particular shows were amazing and wanted to share some of the looks with you. (all photos from Vogue)

below: Elie Saab's Couture Show was fabulously floral

If only I could afford to buy all these dresses!

Song Of The Week

Hey Guys,
Sorry I am late with my Song Of The Week but here it is. I have chosen 'Diane Young' by Vampire Weekend from their latest album 'Modern Vampires Of The City'. I really love Vampire Weekend and I was really disappointed when I missed their tour in England, hopefully they will come back soon. Their music is really upbeat and different with awesome lyrics, so check them out.

Hmm... I feel a haircut coming on

Hey Guys,
I have quite a short attention span and when it comes to my hair, I am very easily bored. I had long hair for quite a few years but after dip dyeing it and not having it cut enough, it was in awful condition, so I made the decision to have it cut into a bob!
Lots of people found me cutting my hair off weird because for many girls my age all they want is ridiculously long hair. I personally don't understand this obsession with long hair as I just found it to be a huge hassle.
I really loved my bob, but again got bored so have been growing it out for a few months now. I am lucky because my hair grows extremely fast, something that I know many people wish their hair did. After my exams & our prom, I am contemplating cutting my hair really short, maybe into a pixie cut!

There are a few styles that I have spied which I like, now I just have to choose...

Emma Watson in Perks Of Being a Wallflower

Carey Mulligan in The Great Gatsby

Tavi Gevinson when she was young

I am having real trouble deciding what I want to do and am worried that short hair maybe won't suit me. Oh well, I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Review: Frozen

Hey Guys,

If you didn't know already a new Disney film called Frozen has recently been released, not to be mistaken for the thriller. I have to admit I was reluctant to watch this because when I saw the trailer, which I now know was the 'teaser', I thought the whole film was about a talking Snowman; but thankfully it's not, it's so much better than I expected!
I don't want to ruin it, unlike I do with most of my reviews because I think that everybody should watch this, but i'll give you the gist of what's happening.

There are two sister called Elsa and Anna (pronounce On-A) who were really close when they were little; Elsa has these magical snow powers but then there's an accident. Elsa can't control her powers and keeps locked up in her room and nobody can enter their castle; this continues until her coronation.
On coronation day the gates to the castle open and Anna's excited to meet and see new people as she's been locked in the castle for 16 years or so; however she pushes Elsa too far and another incident happens.
Elsa runs away to be free and Anna goes looking after her, along the way she meets Kristoff, Sven (the Reindeer) and Olaf  (the Snowman). Finally, once they've found Elsa again another incident happens to Anna and only an act of true love can save her, through out the film you think you know what will save her but to my surprise, and I'm sure many others, the predictable ending didn't happen but what did happen was a much more satisfying.

Anna
I love all the characters apart from the bad guys obviously, but by far Anna is my favourite. She's one of the main protagonists so you see more of her than anybody, which I loved. You first see her as a child and you instantly fall in love with her because she's just annoying, but that cute annoying. When she's growing up she doesn't play with Elsa because of the accident, so you watch her make her own fun and you can't help but feel sorry for her. As she makes her journey to find Elsa, she meets Kristoff and you know they'll fall in love like every Disney film, but the fact they don't hit it off straight away is brilliant because it's more realistic, if that makes any sense.

Of course it wouldn't be a Disney film without a bit of singing. 'Do you want to build a Snowman' and Olaf's 'Summer' songs are my favourite and both are stuck in my head. Kristen Bell (Anna) and Idina Menzel (Elsa) both have beautiful voices, which makes the songs even better.

Credit has to be given to all the animators because creating all that snow must have been very difficult but more importantly, making Elsa's hair look stunning. I'm in love with Elsa's hair and I really want it, I just thought I'd put that out there.

Everything about this film is beyond perfection and if you're a Disney fan already, this will definitely be one of your new favourites. Please go and watch it.

Happy Birthday Kate Moss!

Hey Guys,
Whilst in a waiting room yesterday, I picked up a magazine to read and to my surprise saw an article saying that Kate Moss turning is 40 tomorrow! I have admired Kate for a long time and to be honest thought she was a lot younger! She has had a wonderful career and has become an international fashion icon who is loved by many. And she dated Johnny Depp so she must be awesome!

For her birthday Kate is having a themed party, fashioned on Marie Antoinette and The French Court, which is going to take place on one of Richard Branson's islands.

"Kate is very excited about the theme. She has a big powder blue wig and will tell guests to 'eat cake' just as the French Queen did." (Daily Star)

Not only is Kate having an amazing party but her husband, Jamie Hince, is rumoured to have bought her a Parisian apartment, what a lucky girl! Jealous much!

Kate Moss has made a fantastic contribution to the fashion industry in her life so far and I hope she continues to do so long into the future, Happy Birthday Kate!

Song of the week

Hey Guys,
I'm certain all of you would have heard this song it's 'You and I' from Crystal Fighters; I never knew who they were until literally yesterday. I love this song because it's so upbeat and when it seems like this week is never going to end that's just what you need; I've basically just fallen in love with them. (It also reminds me of the opening credits for Wild at Heart).

 photo imagebutton-1.jpg

Hey Guys,
For a few months now I've known about this cute little shop run by a 17 year old girl at college called Polly Vadasz. I know that she's very proud of her shop and she would like to do this for a career; it would be fantastic if you could visit her shop and support her.
She designs pocket mirrors, phone cases and special products on seasonal events for a very reasonable price.

Visit her InstagramTwitter and Blog for more information and obviously go to her shop (click the link or the lovely big photo).

Word Cloud Classics

Hey Guys,
As you know both of us absolutely love books, especially if they look fantastic; if you remember we did a post on Clothbound classics a while back.
Well today I stumbled across Word Cloud Classics. These are beautiful paper back with the durability of a hardback; they're made with some sort of faux leather cover which is embossed lettering, instead of having a blurb there are quotes from the book on the cover and back; not only this but they have beautiful end pages which have been specifically designed for that book.
Seeing as I only found out about them today, I don't know much about them but they're mainly classic books and I'm finding it very hard to located them online. I will list a few places that I have found but they're mainly American.
Anyway I'm really looking forward to buying them and although they're a bit on the pricey side of approx. £10 per book they are so beautiful and their spines will look amazing next to each other. As I am a huge fan of all the fairy tales stuff, my first purchases will definitely be the volume one and two of 'The Brothers Grimm' and then 'The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes'.

You must check these books out if you're a book lover you will fall in love with them.

Song Of The Week

Hey Guys,
This week I have chosen the song Bedroom Eyes by Dum Dum Girls as my Song Of The Week. I love how effortlessly cool this girl band appear and that they actually play instruments unlike so many girl bands these days. They have a really unique sound. In this video they have a really great look which consists solely of black clothing, this looks really classy with their cat eye makeup and white guitars.

New Years Resolutions

Hey Guys,
Happy New Year! I thought I would share my New Years resolutions with you in the hope that it might make me stick to them! Every year I write resolutions but fail to keep to them for more than a month but this year I am determined!
So my resolutions are...
1. Stop procrastinating!!!
2. Read more
3. Moisturise every day (weird one I know, I am sorry)
4. Less tumblr. and more revision...
5. Stop pulling split ends in hair
6. Don't start biting nails again, even when life is very stressful (exams ahhhh!)
7. Make more time for friends

I tried to think of more, as 7 is an odd number and that annoys me, but I couldn't. I think as this list isn't too long I should be able to manage it and because she hasn't made any New Years resolutions, I'm sure Daisy will make sure I don't break any of mine!
